NOTE: Neither Alberta District 6 (which includes Fort McMurray and Athabasca) nor Alberta District 7 (the Fort Nelson/Peace River region) sent a team to the tournament. Athabasca did not participate despite being guaranteed a spot as the District 6 representative since Fort McMurray filled the host slot.

NOTE: For 1998, the Prairie Province Divisional Tournament was organized into two separate four-team draws. After round-robin pool competition, the top two teams in each pool advanced to single-elimination semifinal and championship round games.

The top two teams in each pool advanced to semifinal round competition, with each pool winner facing the runner-up in the opposite pool. Because of this tiebreaking formula, two tiebreaking games were necessary to determine the champion and runner-up in Pool 'B'.
