Summary:

Consecutive doubles by Joe Richards, Richard Petrack, and Richard Swider capped a six-run third inning, as Evergreen Park National snapped a 1-1 tie en route to a 9-1 title game victory. Evergreen Park had loaded the bases on a hit by Jim Siroki and a pair of walks. Neither pitcher Doug Duff nor catcher Jery Brosseau could handle Gerald Prudden's attempted squeeze bunt, and EP had a 2-1 lead. Richards, whose homer had plated the first Evergreen Park run, then doubled home two runs, Petrak doubled home two more, and Swider doubled in the inning's final run. Gary Ringhoffer struck out 11 and shut down the Lions after allowing a first inning run. In their semifinal win, Chuck Winkoff fired a no-hitter as the Evergreen Park thumped the East Moline Nationals 10-0.
