Summary:

After both Millis and Auburn edged their semifinal opponents, Millis pitcher Danny Galibois -- the third-best hurler on the staff -- scattered two hits and didn't allow an earned run while going the distance in the title game. The championship game's momentum turned in the bottom of the first inning. Millis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the inning, and Auburn immediately tied the score. With an Auburn runner on third base and his team threatening to take the lead, Jim Gaffney grounded sharply to Millis shortstop Rich Clegg. Clegg faked a throw to first, fired to third, and caught the runner trying to get back safely to the base. Millis capitalized on this momentum turner when Eric Reilly cracked a two-run homer off the scoreboard in the top of the second. Millis added a pair of runs in the fifth to ice the victory.
