One year after just missing the state tournament (Ridgewood National lost 5-1 to Bergenfield National in the 1978 Section 1 finals), Chris and Terry Cardew led the District 3 champs to state, regional, and Little League World Series berths. It was the first state title by a Bergen County team since Lodi American took the crown in 1973.
