In New Jersey's last single-elimination state tournament, Morristown National capped a perfect 11-0 run through the District 1, Section 1, and State Tournaments with a 4-0 whitewashing of Nottingham to claim its second state crown in four years. Morristown National -- which played in the state's largest district -- reached the state tournament for the fourth time in six years. The District 1 power would go on to extend the streak to nine appearances in twelve years by 1991.
