Summary:

Nottingham faced first-inning defecits of 2-0, 3-0, and 2-1 in its three state tournament games -- but rallied each time for a victory.

In the title contest, Nottingham took a 5-2 lead in the second, but Old Bridge rallied to knot the game at 5-5 after three. Neither team scored again until the seventh, when Nottingham's Jeff Guglielmelli led off with a double off the left-field fence and moved to third on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Jeff Fennelli's bloop single down the left-field line barely eluded the Old Bridge leftfielder's glove, and Nottingham had its first state title in 18 years.
