Rich Fava and Mike Diaz led South Vineland to its first-ever state championship with an 8-3 win over Morristown National. Fava slammed a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run blast in the fifth, while Diaz added a two-run homer in the third and hurled South Vineland to the win.
Twenty-four hours earlier, Morristown National had rebounded from an 8-1 fifth-inning deficit to beat Nutley American and gain the title game.
