Summary:
Monongahela batters connected for four consecutive solo home runs in the fifth inning of the championship game to break open a 2-1 game and propel the team to a 6-1 win over Hickory. Eddie Kikla homered in the first to give Monongahela the early lead, and fifth inning solo homers by George Peters, Kikla, Dick Sacane, and John Stuyvesant widened the lead. Sacane hurled a complete game and allowed only one hit on the mound.
Monongahela advanced to the title game after another one-hit pitching performance. George Fabian allowed only a leadoff single in the sixth inning, and Sacane's two-run homer keyed a three-run first inning outburst as Monongahela bested Mid-Valley 8-0.
In the other semifinal, Hickory's Bill Douds also threw a one-hitter as Hickory eliminated Newville 8-0. Hickory used eight singles and a double to score in four of its five at bats. Johnny McDonald, Ed Lucas, and Tom Clark all had two hits for Hickory.
