Summary:

Jimmy Malseed fired a one-hitter and third baseman Mike Flanigan provided the offense with a two-run single in the fifth inning as Media defeated Potter-McKean in the state championship game. Malseed allowed only a broken-bat infield single to Potter-McKean's Bill Maxson in the first inning before throwing a no-hitter the rest of the way.

In the semifinals, third baseman Tom Peppler homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and give Media a 2-1 victory over Duquense. Peppler had driven in the game's first run with a first inning single, while winning pitcher Al Gollatz struck out eight and allowed only an unearned run.

In the other semifinal, Potter-McKean took advantage of five errors to defeat Tarentum 5-3. Winning pitcher Steve Kudlock struck out seven and scattered five hits. Tarentum's George Klucinec hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to break up the shutout.
