Summary:
Bellefonte rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge Jessup Carbino in the state championship game. Jessup pitcher Hank Zeino took a perfect game into the sixth inning, and teammate Bob Cicci's homer had given Jessup a 1-0 lead. In the sixth, however, Bill Foresman and Charley Fletmake drew walks, and pinch hitter John Sodergren doubled down the rightfield line to tie the game. One out later, Rod Mitchell lofted a sacrifice fly to right field that plated Sodergren with the winning run.
Bellefonte and Jessup both pulled out extra inning wins in the semifinal round. Mitchell was again the hero for Bellefonte. His two-run double in the fifth broke a scoreless tie, and, after Mill Creek-Seneca forced extra innings by scoring two in the bottom of the sixth, Mitchell's three-run homer again broke the tie. Winning pitcher Gary Kellogg struck out 13 for Bellefonte.
Jessup used a five-run rally in the eighth inning to oust Phoenixville in its semifinal round game. Cicci led off the eighth inning with a home run, and reserve shortstop Phil Spinka later roped a three-run homer to widen the lead.
