Summary:

Back Mountain's Charley Kearns and Phoenixville's Charlie Kopp matched each other pitch-for-pitch for much of the 1962 state title game. Both pitchers struck out 14 and allowed only two hits, but Back Mountain plated an unearned run in the first inning to pick up the 1-0 win. In that first inning rally, Bill Martin and Ed Dubil both reached on infield hits (the only hits Kopp allowed). Steve Townsend reached on an error to load the bases, and Kent Jones then walked to force in the game's only run.

In the semifinals, Phoenixville scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to ice its 12-1 win over Carmichaels King Coal, while Kearns belted a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Back Mountain over Williamsport Memorial. Kearns homer was the only hit allowed by Memorial pitcher Gordy Miller, who fanned 14. Dubil (11 strikeouts) was the winning pitcher for Back Mountain.
