Championship Game:

Host DuBois rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge Berwick 6-5 in the state title game. Rightfielder Brian Wruble -- whose three-run homer in the first inning gave DuBois an early 3-1 lead -- capped the sixth-inning rally with a two-out single that scored Dennis Haag. DuBois' rally was fueled by a costly slip by the Berwick pitcher. With Berwick leading 5-3, Mike Gaeta opened the DuBois half of the sixth inning with a walk. One out later, Doug Adams dribbled a slow roller near the mound. The Berwick pitcher slipped on the wet grass while trying to throw to second base, and his throw sailed into left-center field. Gaeta scored, and Adams scampered around to third base. Tom Frank's single tied the game, and Haag's ground-rule double put runners on second and third. After Frank was caught in a rundown on Scott Johnson's roller to third, Wruble drove his game-winning hit down the third-base line.
In the opening semifinal, Gred Segin's two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning lifted Berwick into a 5-5 tie with Devon-Strafford, and Scott Welliver's RBI single in the eighth carried his team to the extra-inning win. DuBois capitalized on six West Middlesex errors and 10 walks to eliminate the Section 1 champions in the nightcap.
