After splitting a pair of down-to-the-wire games with Ingomar, DuBois left little room for doubt by scoring in each of the first four innings in a 7-2 title game win. With the win, DuBois captured its fifth state title overall, and its fourth in eleven years. Only Connellsville (six titles) has won more Pennsylvania state titles.
DuBois prevailed in its first meeting with Ingomar when James Rosman's two-out single in the seventh inning scored Tom Guthridge and gave DuBois a 2-1 win. Ingomar withstood a furious Newtown-Edgmont rally (N-E scored six in the top of the sixth before Ingomar responded with three in the bottom of the inning to win it) to earn a rematch. DuBois held a 4-1 lead after five innings before Ingomar rallied for a victory. After Ingomar loaded the bases in the top of the sixth inning, an error on a double play grounder scored two, and Rick Suminski doubled home the tying run. Corey Sullivan then blooped a two-run single to left field that completed the Ingomar comeback.
The 'if' game, however, was all DuBois. Guthridge led off the game with a home run, and Chris Harris added an RBI single and later scored in the second to extend the lead to 3-0. Eric Aughenbach's two-run double in the fourth eventually put the game out of reach. Guthridge struck out three and surrendered only a pair of hits while picking up his second state tournament win against Ingomar.
