Connellsville outlasted Council Rock Holland in extra innings in the second longest Pennsylvania championship game ever played. Mike Irwin's two-run single in the third gave Connellsville a 2-1 lead, but Council Rock rallied to force extra innings when Frank Lilley singled home Justin Rubenstein with two outs in the sixth inning. Both Rubenstein (seven strikeouts) and Connellsville's Tanner Burd held their opponents in check until the ninth, when Connellsville recaptured the lead on a pair of homers. Kevin Hiles blasted a two-run shot into a tree behind the right field fence, and Chris Weibal later lofted a homer over the right field fence. Council Rock Holland fought to the end. It loaded the bases after two were out in the bottom of the ninth, when Rubenstein -- who was 4-for-4 to that point in the game -- smashed a hard line drive back to the mound that Burd snared to end the game.
