NOTE: Banqiao City became the Banqiao District in New Taipei City when Taipei County was promoted to city status and became New Taipei City on December 25, 2010. Long Kuong, which was sponsored by RSEA, a government agency that employed retired servicemen, had been relocated to Banqiao City from Hualian County in April 1978. The league was later disbanded in 1988.

NOTE: The country of Western Samoa went on to change its name to Samoa in 1997.

NOTE: The eight-team field was the largest-ever at this point in history of the Far East Region.

NOTE: The Philippines had withdrawn from the tournament as its team could not afford a travel tax imposed by the Philippines government, but the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association provided funding assistance to enable the team to travel for the tournament.

NOTE: South Korea returned to competition in the international tournament following a one-year ban imposed by Little League Baseball in 1986. The country’s teams had drawn players from geographic areas with populations that exceeded Little League regulations.

Tournament Results:

Format: Round robin tournament, with the first place team at the conclusion of round robin play winning the tournament championship. Tiebreaking games are held in the event of a tie for first place.

NOTE: The Far East Region tournament used a ten-run rule in 1987. Games were ended after the fifth inning if one team was leading by ten or more runs. Little League Baseball did not implement this rule as part of the official international tournament rules until 1995.
