NOTE: On August 11, 1993, Little League Baseball officials announced that Chinese Taipei representative Taiping Little League had violated Little League eligibility rules and would be disqualified from the international tournament. In the wake of the eligibility issues associated with the Zamboanga City (Philippines) Little League team that won the 1992 Far East Region tournament, Little League Baseball closely enforced its school enrollment rule, which in this era mandated that a league using a school district as its boundaries must have a four-team league for every 1,000 students. According to an Associated Press report, the Taiping Elementary School had an enrollment of 2,100 students.
Little League officials did not initially announce a replacement for the Taiping team as the region champion. Nine days after the tournament’s conclusion, Saipan Little League, the fifth-place finisher in the nine-team region tournament, was named the region's representative as the highest-placing region tournament entrant that met all eligibility requirements. Little League officials were opaque as to the specific reason Garapan City was invited, though one Williamsport official noted in press accounts that it was the highest-finishing team that could prove all rostered players were eligible. Guangzhou (China) had been informed prior to the region tournament that it would not be permitted to advance to the Little League World Series should it win the region tournament. South Korea and Sumida (Tokyo, Japan) were also passed over, although the specific regulations which the teams failed to meet were not publicly announced.
