Summary:
North Hunterdon Little League qualified for the state tournament for a third consecutive year, and brought home its first ever state title by outslugging Cherry Hill American Little League, 10-7, in the championship game. Drew Mazura belted three title-game home runs, and Dave Hoffman clubbed a pair of his own. Both players homered in the first inning, with Mazura's three-run blast and Hoffman's solo shot staking North Hunterdon to a lead it wound not relinquish.
North Hunterdon's three straight Section 1 titles is the second longest such streak in New Jersey history. Morristown National Little League won four consecutive Section 1 crowns from 1988-1991. North Hunterdon's four state tournament appearances -- the other was in 1957 -- tied the league for the fifth highest number of state tournament qualifiers in New Jersey Little League history.
