Summary:

Robert Deiudonne's fourth-inning grand slam capped a five-run outburst as Houston Westbury rallied from an early 2-0 defecit to win the title. Daniel Schwartz pitched out of several jams in the title game, scattering six hits and allowing four walks, but McAllister Park stranded eight baserunners. Westbury was able to create big innings with a minimal number of hits. In the semifinals, only two of Westbury's seven hits plated runs, while two Laredo Optimist errors and nine walks aided the Westbury cause. In the title game, a pair of two-out hit batsmen kept the five-run third inning alive, and Westbury added two more in the fourth via an error, a pair of walks, a wild pitch, and a single. Westbury had last won a state title in 1966, when it also became the most recent Texas team to win the World Series.
