NOTE: Between 1974 and 1981, Nebraska did not hold a dedicated state tournament, and instead all district champions from Nebraska, Kansas, and North/South Dakota advanced to a sectional tournament, with the winner of that tournament advancing to the Central Region Division 1 tournament.

During this era, the bracket for this sectional tournament was arranged so that a Nebraska state champion could be determined, as Nebraska teams faced one another in the early rounds of the sectional tournament. For 1976, the opening round of the Nebraska state tournament was a bi-district game held at Blair Little League, and the state championship game was a semifinal round game at the sectional tournament.
