Host - Timberline (Rapid City, South Dakota) (North/South Dakota District 1)
At Timberline Field
NOTE: Between 1974 and 1981, Nebraska did not hold a dedicated state tournament, and instead all district champions from Nebraska, Kansas, and North/South Dakota advanced to a sectional tournament, with the winner of that tournament advancing to the Central Region Division 1 tournament.
During most years in this era, the bracket for this sectional tournament was arranged so that a Nebraska state champion could be determined, as Nebraska teams faced one another in the early rounds of the sectional tournament. For 1977, however, Nebraska teams were on different sides of the bracket, and never met. Keystone Little League from Omaha was the highest-finishing Nebraska team in this tournament, and is recognized by Nebraska Little League officials as the state champion. District 2 champion Grand Island National Little League was defeated by Westside Little League, 4-3 in 7 innings, in a bi-district game that preceded the sectional tournament.
